Programs

GA is a great place to get some exercise and make new friends.

Climbing Club

The Youth Climbing Club is an 8 week program structured to provide kids, ages 7-12, the opportunity to discover and learn about the sport of rock climbing.

Under the guidance of dedicated instructors, kids learn basic rock climbing skills, as well as work at improving balance, strength and coordination. The sport of rock climbing will also help your child develop self-confidence and self-esteem, while learning other life skills such as teamwork and communication. These classes are offered once per week in 8 week sessions.

Recreational Team

This program often serves as preparation for joining the Competitive Team, but can also be a great place to advance technically without the pressure of competition. Rec Team members are strongly encouraged to have their own equipment (shoes, harness, chalk bag, locking carabiner and belay device).

The Youth Recreational Team is an ongoing program for kids and young adults ages 10-18 who are ready to take their climbing to the next level. Rec Team is ideal for intermediate level climbers looking to improve their skills, strength, endurance, and climbing proficiency.

Competitive Team

The Youth Competitive Team is an ongoing program for kids and young adults ages 10-18 who are intermediate to advanced level climbers interested in competing in local, and potentially divisional, national, and even international climbing competitions.

Youth Competitive Team features in-depth instruction, coaching, and training. Our experienced coaches help members focus on climbing technique, strength, endurance and core balance. All team members must be proficient at belaying and willing to take on the challenge of lead climbing and lead belaying.

*Tryouts are required to join Comp Team and are generally scheduled the first week of February, March, April, and May of each year. For inquiries regarding Youth Competitive Team, please email hello@granitearch.com.

Kids will learn to tie the climber’s knot, belay, and use technique and strength to climb effectively. Our instructors also concentrate on team-building concepts throughout the program to emphasize social interaction, fitness, fun, and friendship.

These classes are offered once a week in the Fall (September - December) and Spring (January - April) Semesters.

Tiny Trailblazers

This program targets both gross and fine motor skills, which are essential for developing physical confidence and functional independence. Activities stimulate the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for motor control, while also supporting language development, emotional regulation, and learning readiness. This program meets once per week for 8 weeks.

This program is more than just an introductory climbing program, it's a foundational developmental experience that plays a vital role in early childhood growth by:

  • Strengthening postural control and overall body stability

  • Enhancing spatial awareness and directional movement

  • Improving bilateral coordination and hand-eye coordination

  • Building problem-solving skills and movement based confidence

  • Supporting sensory integration and emotional regulation

Mini Mountaineers

This program focuses on skill-building through climbing challenges, movement drills, and age-appropriate activities. Children strengthen balance, coordination, body awareness, and problem-solving skills; all critical for physical and cognitive development. Activities are designed to support the growth of executive functioning, spatial reasoning, and emotional self-regulation while also emphasizing the importance of, and how to, follow the rules and expectations of being inside a climbing facility. Participating in this program will help children develop focus, confidence, and physical independence which are essential skills that will prepare young climbers for continued athletic development while supporting broader readiness for school and daily life. This program meets once per week for 8 weeks.

Junior Rec Team

This program focuses on dynamic techniques like flagging and heel hooks, enhancing body awareness, core control, and balance through increased climbing time and targeted training. Fun challenges and movement drills will help climbers evolve their skills and boost their confidence on the wall. Jr. Rec Team members are strongly encouraged to have their own equipment (shoes, harness, chalk bag, locking carabiner and belay device).
